My Fleurette

Rosaire and Fleurette lived together for more than 50 years. They shared a deep, solid, and intimate love. I saw them nurture that love like two meticulous gardeners for whom tomorrow didn’t exist.But tomorrow came.Like a dreadful thief, time came to steal half of the garden. It took away flowers and intimacy, hills and smiles, bushes and kisses.Cruelly, it believed, laughing, that it had also taken all the love from the gardeners. But time doesn’t understand. Love is strong. Love pierces through time and transcends death. Despite time, love remains alive, nurtured by the gardener who now tends to the memory.

His palm, weathered by salt.
A breath, soft as a sea breeze, brushes the sails of memory,
and the air hums with the whispers of tides long past.

Oceans stretch across his eyes, vast and melancholic,
where reflections of adventure and lost horizons dance, as the vahines once did.
Every wrinkle on his face tells the story of a storm.
His lips still carry the taste of salt.
Lean close to his ear, and you can almost hear the sound of waves.

In the dim light of time, an old sailor breathes his memories.
Thus time drifts away… A sailor, a dream, a breath.
